Josh Odsess-Rubin likes it when you laugh at him. He has been laughed at throughout his BA at Yale University, his MFA in Acting at UC Irvine, and at theaters across the country including Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Yale Repertory Theatre, Sierra Repertory Theatre, Winnipesaukee Playhouse, New Swan Shakespeare, Shakespeare Orange County and Cygnet Theatre. Audiences were known to giggle uncomfortably at his New York roles including Hamlet in Getting Even with Shakespeare at NYC Fringe, Peter in Hold Music at Ars Nova, Kulygin in The Three Seagulls or MashaMashaMasha! at HERE, Orlando in As You Like It at Pulse Ensemble, and more. Since moving to LA a year ago, Josh has elicited confused guffaws from his TV appearances on My Crazy Ex, Secret Space Escapes, and True Nightmares, as well as several commercials and web series. (He isn’t sure how to write the plural of web series, but wonders if it is like "attorneys general." Webs series?) Josh also encountered quite an array of bemused chuckles while training at Upright Citizens Brigade and as a member of the improv team Live Nude People. As of Summer 2016, Josh is playing Dromio of Syracuse in Shakespeare’s bleak drama The Comedy of Errors at Lake Tahoe Shakespeare, where audiences are mostly sitting quietly with tears running down their cheeks.
